Door-to-door awareness campaign against drug addiction.

GDC Hajin organized a door-to-door awareness campaign against drug addiction.

The Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan Committee in collaboration with the NSS Unit of the Government Degree College Hajin organized a one-day door-to-door awareness campaign against the growing menace of drug addiction. The campaign took place in the Khusarpora village of Sonawari in which many NSS volunteers, both male and female students participated as ambassadors of the campaign. In the beginning, the Head of the Department of Political Science, Prof (Dr) Mehraj Hajini explained the importance of the drug de-addiction campaign and appreciated the NSS volunteers for such social services. The principal of the college, Prof (Dr) Peer Zahoor Ahmad, flagged off the campaign and encouraged the students to participate in these campaigns as flag bearers and contribute positively towards society. During the campaign, over fifty households were surveyed in which both male and female members were sensitized about the ill effects of drug abuse. They were informed that drug abuse and tobacco consumption not only deteriorate the health of a person but also devastate their family life and renders them economically weak which ultimately gives rise to heinous crimes in our society. The campaign was escorted by Mr Adnan Rashid Lone, convenor of Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan Committee, Dr Firdous Ahmad Paray, NSS Programme Officer and Dr Sajad Rashid. The campaign culminated in the college where refreshment was served to the participating students by the Hospitality & Protocol Committee of the college.
