GDC Hajin organizes a seminar in observance of International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking.
The Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan Committee, in collaboration with the NSS Unit of the Government Degree College Hajin, organized a one-day seminar on the occasion of International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking with the theme "The Evidence is clear: invest in Prevention" in the college's seminar hall under the patronage of the esteemed Principal, Prof (Dr) Peer Zahoor Ahmad. Dr Shazia, a resource person from the Hajin Community Health Centre, and Mr Rameez Ahmad Bhat, the Deputy Superintendent of Police in Hajin, attended the event. Dr. Shazia delivered a detailed talk on the rising issue of drug usage and substance misuse in our culture. She discussed the effects of drug addiction on the human body, stating that consuming drugs does not only make a person physically unfit, but also has an impact on their mental, spiritual, and social lives. She guided the audience through the drug addiction cycle, explaining how it affects various areas of the human body such as the heart, kidneys, lungs, and liver, ultimately leading to death. In his address, DySP Hajin, Mr Rameez Ahmad Bhat, urged the audience to join in this noble movement to eradicate drugs from our society and to participate in the various awareness campaigns and initiatives undertaken by the government and administration regularly to make our society drug-free. Prof (Dr) Gazala Firdous, the College's recently designated Principal, attended the occasion as well. Mr Adnan Rashid Lone, Convenor Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan Committee, organized the seminar, which was moderated by Dr Firdous Ahmad Paray, Programme Officer at the college's NSS Unit. The event concluded with a formal vote of thanks presented by Mr Javeed Ahmad Raina, Head of the Department of English.
