The Physical Education and Sports Department of Government Degree College Hajin, organized a Road Race as part of SVEEP (Systematic Voter's Education and Electoral Participation) activities, in order to raise awareness about the importance of voting particularly among the New Voters.
The Road Race was flagged off by the Principal of GDC Hajin, Prof. (Dr.) Peer Zahoor Ahmad.
It started
from High School Baharabad Hajin and culminated at the college campus, covering a distance of more than 2 kilometers.
The event was attended by Dr. Mehraj Hajni, Head of the Department of Political Science, Professor Javid Ahmad, and Professor Falak Feroz and all the other teaching and non teaching faculty members.
During the prize distribution ceremony, Principal Prof. (Dr.) Peer Zahoor Ahmad emphasized that the primary objective of the race was to raise awareness about the significance of democratic participation, particularly in the context of the upcoming elections.
Large number of students participated in the road race. Abrar ul Farooq of 6th semester secured the 1st position, Sajad Ahmad of 4th semester won the 2nd position, and Owais Altaf of 3rd Semester won the 3rd position respectively
The Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Hajin Mr. Ramez Rashid, who was the chief guest on the occasion, distributed certificates among the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd position holders. The other participating students were also given certificates and medals by the Principal of the College.
The Police team Hajin under the Command of SHO Hajin escorted the participating students and also regulated the traffic during the Road Race. The BMO Hajin deputed a Medical Team along with ambulance and other necessary equipments and first aid kits. The media Fraternity also attended the programme for media coverage.
